Network Support Technician (on-site)
The Network Support Technician is responsible for troubleshooting, answering technical questions and providing general technical support.
This position participates in a rotating on-call schedule.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Perform second level support of client devices including configuration, deployment, troubleshooting and repair.
- Install updates and service packs on Windows/Mac/Linux servers.
- Install updates on network switching and routing devices.
- Performing troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network.
- Evaluate local area network (LAN) or wide area network (WAN) performance data to ensure sufficient availability or speed, to identify network problems, or for disaster recovery purposes.
- Test and configure software and maintain and repair hardware and peripheral devices.
- Maintain manual and electronic documents, files and records (e.g. work order logs, inventory, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities, conveying information and/or providing an up-to-date reference and audit trail.
- Install and configure wireless networking equipment.
- Manage network monitoring utilities and alerting systems.
- Research and remediate cybersecurity risks.
- Manage Office 365 licenses and user support.
- Monitor and test data backups.
REQUIREMENTS
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies.
- 3-4 years of experience with deployment and troubleshooting of Windows Server and Desktop operating systems.
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting switches (Extreme and Cisco).
- Experience managing and troubleshooting Microsoft Exchange Server.
- Experience working with Office 365.
- Experience with network monitoring systems.
- Experience administering Active Directory.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Skilled at prioritization and multi-tasking.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
