Over-discharging a LiPo battery will cause irreparable damage and may causebattery failure. To prevent over-discharging, only use TraxxasPower Cell LiPo batteries with an electronic speed control (ESC) that has alow-voltage detection system or alarm.

All current Traxxas vehicles equipped with the XL-2.5 (w/LVD), XL-5 (w/LVD),EVX-2 (w/LVD),VXL-6s, VXL-3s, and VXL-3m have Low Voltage Detection (LVD). Older versions of theXL-2.5, XL-5 andEVX-2 speedcontrols do not have Low Voltage Detection; see below to determine if you havethe latest XL-5 or EVX-2 speed control.

How to Tellif Low Voltage Detection is ON

Traxxas ESCs will show a green light to indicate Low Voltage Detection isturned on; the Castle Creations ESC will beep once for each LiPo cell itdetects (for example, 4 beeps if you have installed two 2-cell LiPo packs inyour model). The Castle speed control automatically activates its low-voltagedetection mode when it detects it is connected to LiPo batteries. If you are uncertain about how to turn on and use Low VoltageDetection, consult your vehicle's manual or call 888-TRAXXAS. We're happy tohelp.

If the LED glows GREEN when the ESC is on, Low Voltage Detection isactivated

How to TurnLow Voltage Detection ON

If your Traxxas speed control with Low Voltage Detection displays a redlight when switched on, it means that Low Voltage Detection is switched OFF. Toturn it ON, first turn on your transmitter and speed control. With the speedcontrol already on, press and hold the EZ-Set button until you hear anascending tone (if you have a VXL speed control) or two beeps (if you have anXL-5 speed control). Release the EZ-Set button and the speed control's LED willlight green to show Low Voltage Detection is ON. If it does not light green, donot operate your model with a LiPO battery. Repeat the procedure. Call888-TRAXXAS if you cannot activate Low Voltage Detection.

If the LED glows RED when the ESC is on, Low Voltage Detection isDEACTIVATED.
To turn Low Voltage Detection on, press and hold the EZ-Set button until youhear an
ascending tone (VXL speed controls) or two beeps (XL-5 speed control).
