Learn how to paint and assemble the clear Ford GT body for the 4-Tec 2.0 in this video
The Traxxas 8311 Ford® GT body is one of the best looking bodies ever released for any RC vehicle. Sleek and exotic, the Ford GT body captures even the finest details to give your 4-Tec® 2.0 an incredible look. The level of scale detail engineered into the body requires a multi-stage assembly process outlined in this video. Follow these easy steps for professional looking results.
Begin by lightly sanding the edges of the individual body pieces. This will remove any rough spots for expert looking results.
Clean the body
Clean the inside of the body pieces with a microfiber cloth and mild cleaning solution to remove any fingerprints and sanding dust. The outside of the body is covered with a thin overspray film that should remain in place until the paint has dried.
Paint the body
Use your choice of Traxxas ProGraphix paint to customize your body. Before painting, watch this video for helpful tips on the painting process. Allow the paint to dry for 24 hours before proceeding to the next step.
Apply adhesive strips
Once the paint has dried for 24 hours, remove the protective overspray film from the body panels. Use the diagram included with the body to install all the adhesive strips into place.
Attach the body panels
Before removing the non-stick layer from the adhesive pads, test fit the body pieces. When you are satisfied with the fit, peel off the non-stick layer from the adhesive and press the body pieces into place.
Installing body hardware
Some panels attach with supplied hardware supplied in the kit. Follow the instructions and tighten down the body panels, but do not overtighten.
Apply the decals
Carefully apply the decals to the body. For helpful hints and tips on installing decals, see this video.
Install trim pieces
The Traxxas Ford GT includes several injection-molded trim pieces for ultimate scale realism. Use the supplied hardware to firmly secure them to the body.
Cut body mount holes
The body features pre-drilled body mounting holes, but you will need to carefully cut through the decals using the Traxxas hobby knife.
